This is a 1/4 scale brass barreled flintlock blunderbuss made by master miniature maker J.M. Hick of England, probably 35 – 40 years ago. 7 1/2″ long overall with a 3 5/8″ part octagon part round brass barrel with a swelled blunderbuss muzzle. The muzzle measures .310. The top of the barrel marked with the typical Hick “H” on the top flat near the breech. Steel lock assembly finished in the white. The hammer has both half & full cock. Brass furniture, steel barrel tang, trigger, & screws finished in the white. One piece walnut stock. Tapered ebony ramrod with a brass tip. Includes the original Hick hinged top case with brass flip latch. The interior French fit & lined in red felt. The blunderbuss is in excellent condition showing only very minor signs of handling. The brass parts showing the expected age patina. The case lid is missing the right side, and the case bottom has the backing cloth of what was probably a felt lining, the lining missing. There is a small rectangular brass plaque affixed to the right front of the interior bottom marked “J. M. HICK, SIDEWAYS, KILMINGTON COMMON, WARMINSTER WILTS” in four lines. Price: $1,500.00.
