Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a true 1/2 or 50% scale Colt single action army revolver made by master miniature maker Isaias Aguilar of Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Aguilar was one of the craftsmen who worked for Tom Weston in Mexico City, Mexico, and possibly also for Fred Thacker in El Paso, Texas. In his later years he moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to live with his daughter. This revolver was made for Joel Morrow when Aguilar lived in Corpus Christi.
This is not to be confused with one of the Uberti Colt SAA revolvers which are 47% scale. Although there is only a 3% difference, it works out to be 6% difference in full scale, & the difference is very noticeable when seen & held “in hand”! This 1/2 or 50% scale miniature is 100% hand made & machined with no castings. It is 6″ long overall with a 2 9/16″ .22 caliber rifled barrel. Where as a similar Uberti Colt 47% scale SAA is 4 3/4″ long overall with a 2 3/16″ rifled barrel of .21 caliber. Full nickel plated finish. The barrel inlaid with a gold band at the muzzle. The cylinder inlaid with a gold band at the rear, and with a gold “dash” in between each cylinder flute. One piece rosewood grip. The serial number “7” is stamped into the bottom of the frame, triggerguard, & backstrap. Checkered hammer spur, the hammer has the normal four clicks as it is cocked. Brass blade type front sight and standard topstrap notch rear sight. Smokeless powder frame with the oval ejector rod button and a spring loaded plunger securing the cylinder pin. The hammer has a rim fire firing pin. The cylinder will accept the .22 short rimfire cartridge, & .22 BB & CB caps. A really beautiful hand crafted miniature Colt. This is one of only two Aguilar Colt SAA revolvers I have ever seen. The other I sold a couple months ago.
Includes a beautiful hand made 1/2 scale Bowie knife made marked on the left side of the blade just in front of the guard “Whiskers, 120189”. This knife was made by prolific & renown knife maker Mike “Whiskers” Allen of Malakoff, Texas (He was famous for his beard!). Mike is better known for his artistic automatic knives. The number is the date the knife was finished. The knife is 6 7/16″ long overall with a 4 1/32″ drop point blade. The top spine of the blade and the full exposed tang are beautifully sculpted. The cross guard is oval in shape, & made of German silver. The handles are two piece ivory showing a nice aged patina, pretty grain, and some small age surface cracks. The grips are held in place by two nickel silver pins. This is the only miniature “Whiskers” Bowie knife known.
Also included is a 1/2 scale medium brown gunbelt with holster, knife scabbard, and six cartridge loops. I will include six .22 short dummy cartridges to fill the cartridge loops. The set is unlined, and has an engraved nickel plated buckle set. The back bottom of the knife scabbard is marked with an intertwined KWA logo. I do not know who made the holster & gunbelt set, but it’s possible it was made by one of Aguilar’s sons or grandsons who lived in the Corpus Christi area. Beautiful near mint condition, I’d call the whole set 99%+. This is a firearm, & all FFL rules apply. !!!!!SOLD!!!!! For DA
