Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/2 scale Volcanic lever action pistol made & signed by what looks to be Glivhill.  4″ long overall with a 2 7/8″ octagon barrel of .130 caliber.  Brass frame & side plates with the balance of the parts a charcoal blue steel.  The brass showing some age patina.  The hammer has full cock only with a checkered spur, and works when cocked by hand, dropping when the trigger is pulled, but the bolt is not quite long enough to cock the hammer when the lever is worked.  The magazine is not functional, but all the parts look to be there except for a small screw on the left side of the barrel near the muzzle, just need a little work.  The frame, side plates, backstrap, & the bottom of the cartridge lifter are very nicely engraved in typical scrolls of the period.  Brass bead front sight.  Two piece ivory grips with a nice grain & aged patina with a single screw entering from the right side & brass escutcheons.  The grips have shrunk with time and there’s a gap where they meet the frame, which leads me to think this piece might be antique.  The right grip is marked on the inside in pencil with what looks to me to be “GLIVHILL” and a faint drawing of what looks to be a rearing antlered deer.  The barrel & magazine show some turning of the blue finish to a brown patina, mostly on the top & left side, I’d call it 60% original blue.  Complete with a nice walnut hinged top case with two swivel hook latches.  The interior English fit & lined in a russet felt.  A nice looking piece and would make a great project for someone with some gunsmithing skills as I’m sure it could be made to function properly with just a little work, but it is beyond me.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
