Project Description

This is a 1/8 scale miniature Polar bear made by noted wildlife artist George Schramm of Natural Wildlife Sculpture in Idaho.  George has been making miniature bears since he first had the idea in 1989 after seeing a mounted mink at a wildlife show in Utah.  George uses a mink pelt for the hair on the bears, and it is as soft and luxurious to the touch as mink is known for.  George is a lifelong bear hunter, and has used his experience with bears in crafting these amazingly life like sculptures.  George has made black bears, grisly bears, black bear sow with a cub, fishing grisly bears with a salmon in it’s mouth, cape buffalo, and big horn sheep natural wildlife sculptures, three of which are shown in the book The Art of Miniature Firearms – Centuries of Craftsmanship on pages 326 – 328.  This polar bear is sitting atop a large white dolomite rock crystal to resemble an iceberg.  The crystal is mounted to a pentagon shaped walnut base, and includes a beautiful hand made leaded glass dome cover.  The bear sits about 7 5/8″ high above the crystal. The base is hand signed by George and dated 2018, along with his trademark bear paw footprint, and is about 15″ wide.  With the glass dome in place the whole thing is about 19 1/2″ tall.  I have sold several of these back when I worked for Imperial Miniature Armory, and in my early days of my business, but had lost touch with him several years ago.  I have just recently re-connected with George at the Denver Gun Collector’s Show back in May, & he gave this bear to me to sell for him.  George’s work is nothing short of amazing!  Sure to be one of the most talked about & prized pieces in your collection or home decor!!!  Some day I hope to own a piece of George’s work myself.  Please understand that I have no way to ship this, so you will need to come pick it up, I can deliver it to you at a show I attend, or I can take it to a shipping company for professional packing & shipping at your cost.  Stock # GS-01.  Price Reduced:  $5,500.00.
