Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a custom made miniature 47% scale replica of General George S. Patton’s famous Colt single action army revolver that he carried during World War II. This is a project that I did back 20 years ago. One of my customers commissioned me to have this revolver made. I ordered two miniature Colt SAA’s from Uberti with the exact serial number of Patton’s example, # 332088, with a 4 3/4″ barrel, and no grips. One is marked with a 1, the other with a 2 under the grips on the right side of the front strap, this is #1. The beautiful vine & scroll engraving, and lanyard loop, were done by John Adams & John Adams, Jr. who had engraved 10 full size replicas for Doug Turnbull Restorations, and had the smoke pulls (copies) of the engraving from the original revolver. Doug Turnbull Restorations did the silver plating. The bottom of the barrel marked “A. UBERTI – ITALY”. The left front of the frame marked with the two patent dates “-PAT. JULY. 1871-, -PAT. JULY 2, 1872” in two lines. the left rear of the triggerguard marked “45 CAL”. The two piece grips with a blind screw entering from the right side were made by master ivory carver Dennis Holland. The right grip features the deep set Colt medallion, the screw head with escutcheon, and the deep carved letters of Patton’s initials “GSP stacked vertically. The right grip features a high relief spread winged eagle and the deep set Colt medallion. The sterling silver grip medallions were made by jeweler Roberto Hinze of Houston. This project took me over four years to complete, at a cost of well over $4K, back then, not including the original miniature from Uberti or the leather bound book casing which the original owner has made! Beautiful mint condition and looks just like the day I sold it except for some expected tarnish to the silver. Includes a really nice leather bound book casing. The casing bound in brown leather. The front cover features a gold chain like border & the initials “GSP” stacked just like on the grip of the revolver. The rear cover with the same chain like gold border. The spine is hubbed, with a red leather overlay that reads “PATTON” in gold, along with some filigree details. The interior French fit and lined in a red felt. Includes a Larry Smith marked nickel plated oiler. A beautiful piece! Stock # RC-54. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
