!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a full size Hopkins & Allen Xpert derringer, and a 1/2 scale miniature Hopkins & Allen Xpert derringer made by Bill Adrian, that are cased together as a set. The full size derringer is 4 3/8″ long overall with a 2 1/4″ round rifled barrel of about .284 caliber. Probably shoots a .30 rimfire. The top of the barrel is roll stamped “XPERT – PAT. SEP. 23, 1878”. The bottom of the barrel stamped with the serial number “E2763”. Checkered hammer spur, trigger, and top of the breech block. Two piece dark walnut grips with a single screw entering from the left side and yellow brass escutcheons. There are witness marks on the right side of the barrel & frame showing where the two should line up. Mechanically excellent, the hammer having both half & full cock. The bore is dark & pitted, but still shows strong rifling. The steel parts are showing and aged steel grey with some minor dings & scratches. The grips are nice, showing only a tiny chip on the right lower side where it meets the frame.
The miniature is 2 3/16″ long overall with a 1 1/4″ round smoothbore barrel of about .174 caliber, and looks to have been made to shoot the 4mm rim fire cartridge. No barrel marking or serial number. Checkered hammer spur, trigger, and top of the breech block. Two piece dark walnut grips with a single screw entering from the left side and yellow brass escutcheons. Mechanically excellent, the hammer having both half & full cock. The bore is dark with some minor pitting. The steel parts were finished in the white, and are showing a fairly bright aged steel grey with some minor dings & scratches. The grips are nice.
The two cased in an old re-purposed mahogany hinged top casing with flip latch and glass top. The interior is French fit and the interior bottom lined in a dark red velour. The bottom of the cased lined in a green felt. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
