!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a full size antique Brown Manufacturing “Southener” .41 short rimfire derringer, the real deal! Steel octagon rifled barrel. Brass frame. The balance of the parts are steel. The top of the barrel marked “SOUTHENER”, but only the “SOUTH” and part of the “E” letters are legible. Serial # 1837 stamped into the bottom rear of the barrel, only visible with the barrel open for loading, and also on the bottom of the gripstrap. Checkered hammer spur, but it’s mostly worn smooth. Two piece walnut grips with steel escutcheons and a single retaining screw on each side. This pistol is in rough shape with considerable pitting to the steel parts and a dark rusty pitted bore with good traces of rifling, the extractor is missing, and the is considerable play between the frame & barrel.
