Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/4 scale Model 1866 Winchester saddle ring carbine made & marketed by Fred Thacker of El Paso, Texas back in the 1950’s to mid 1970’s.  9 7/8″ long overall with a 5″ round barrel of .086 caliber.  Brass receiver, sideplates, and buttplate.  The remaining metal parts are charcoal blued steel.  Straight grained walnut buttstock & forearm.  The carbine flip type rear sight is dovetailed into the barrel.  Crescent buttplate.  Checkered hammer spur.  The left rear of the frame has the saddle ring.  This piece is only partially functional, and was made that way.  The lever cocks the hammer, and the trigger releases the hammer.  The cartridge lifter does not move, and the magazine is not functional.  The brass has a nice mellow aged patina.  The steel parts show 98+% original bright “blue” blue.  The wood shows about 98+% of the original varnish.  Beautiful condition showing just some very minor signs of handling.  Complete with a nice walnut hinged top case with two flip latches.  The interior bottom French fit & lined in an orange cloth.  The interior lid padded & lined in a orange cloth.  The case top shows signs of a previous attached rectangular plaque which is now missing.  The case bottom lined with a thin sheet of cork.  I think this is the nicest non-engraved Fred Thacker Winchester 1866 saddle ring carbine I have ever had the pleasure to offer for sale!  Stock # PR-01.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
