Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/3 scale Kentucky flintlock pistol made by master Jeweler Billy Johnson from Montgomery, Alabama, probably 40 – 50 years ago. 5 13/16″ long overall with a 3 1/4″ rifled octagon barrel with a brown finish. All of the furniture & mountings are solid gold, either 14 or 18 karat. The nosecap, sideplate, triggerguard, frizzen, hammer, triggerguard, and buttcap are expertly & elaborately engraved. The lockplate, hammer, pan, & frizzen are also solid gold. There is a gold inlaid circle in the top of the barrel just ahead of the rear sight stamped with an intertwined “BJ”. The rear sight, frizzen spring, & screws are fire blued. Gorgeous one piece tiger striped maple stock. Mr. Johnson’s work is highly coveted and though he supposedly made over 80 miniatures, this, & the soon to be listed matching rifle, are the first I have had the opportunity to offer for sale. One of Mr. Johnson’s miniature flintlock pistols is pictured on the cover of Merrill Lindsay’s book “Miniature Arms”, and a similar pistol to this one is pictured on page 62 of Lindsay’s book. One of the most beautiful miniature pistols I have ever seen! !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
