Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is an extremely rare and very small antique bronze 16 gauge black powder salute cannon made by the Strong Fire Arms Co. in New Haven Connecticut circa pre 1892.  The patent on this breech mechanism was awarded in 1888.  12″ long overall with a 9 1/4″ bronze tube with a hinged breach action and a retracting & swiveling firing pin & bolt mechanism.  This is one of two patented breech designs by Strong.  6″ high and 6″ wide.  The carriage is very typical of a Strong cannon, made of mahogany with lignin vitae wheels in the front only.  All the hardware is bronze, and original to the cannon.  There is a manual extractor, and a four spoked threaded elevation screw.  The piece shows some wear, dents, & dings, but overall is in great condition considering it’s age.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
