Project Description
!!!!!PRICE REDUCED!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale M1 Thompson sub-machine gun by the legendary Edmund de la Garrigue. 16″ long overall with a 5 1/4″ rifled barrel of .25 caliber. The major parts are Parkerized finished machined steel except for the bolt which is finished in the white. The bolt knob, ejector plate, fire controls, & magazine are high polish blue. Fixed rear peep sight, blade front sight. Oil finished straight grained walnut stocks. This is a non-firing model. Some of these were registered class III fully automatic firing class III machine guns. There is a firing pin bump on the bolt face, but there is no chamber cut into the barrel, no extractor, and no ejector. The magazine is a solid block of steel, but has the more typical correct Thompson magazine profile, not like some that are too wide, two short, & with holes drilled into the sides. The magazine release spring is usually missing as usual. The right side of the upper receiver deeply roll stamped “AUTO-ORDINANCE CORPORATION, BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT, U.S.A.” in two lines. The left side of the upper receiver marked “THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN, CALIBER .45 M1, No 9222” in three lines. The top of the receiver marked with the typical Thompson Bullet Trade Mark logo. The magazine is unmarked, & has a threaded hole in the bottom for mounting on a display stand. The left side of the lower receiver marked “FULL, AUTO” & “SINGLE” in two lines, & “FIRE” & “SAFE” by the control levers. The bottom of the triggerguard marked “EDMOND H. de la GARRIGUE”. Excellent near mint condition showing only very minor handling wear and a couple minor dings in the wood. The front sight does show considerable finish loss. There are a lot of stories about Mr. de la Garrigue, but he is most famously known as the inventor of the Grizzly single action army revolver. There is an out of print book about Mr. de la Garrigue called “Artistry in Single Action” by Halton Henderson. Only 450 copies were printed, so they are very rare, expensive, and difficult to find. The book documents these miniature Thompsons as well as several other miniatures made by Mr. de la Garrigue. Price Reduced: $1,750.00.
