Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale M1 Thompson sub-machine gun by the legendary Edmund de la Garrigue. 16″ long overall with a 5 1/4″ rifled barrel of .25 caliber. The major parts are Parkerized finished machined steel except for the bolt which is finished in the white. The bolt knob, ejector plate, and fire controls are high polish blue. Fixed rear peep sight, blade front sight. Oil finished straight grained walnut stocks. This is a non-firing model. Some of these were registered class III fully automatic firing class III machine guns. There is a firing pin bump on the bolt face, but there is no chamber cut into the barrel, no extractor, and no ejector. The magazine is a solid block of steel, but has the more typical correct Thompson magazine profile, not like some that are too wide, two short, & with holes drilled into the sides. The magazine release spring which is usually missing on these is actually there & functional! The right side of the upper receiver deeply roll stamped “AUTO-ORDINANCE CORPORATION, BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT, U.S.A.” in two lines. The left side of the upper receiver marked “THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN, CALIBER .45 M1, No 110” in three lines. The top of the magazine marked “011”, which I am sure is a screw up on someone’s part as it is obvious it should have been 110. The left side of the lower receiver marked “FULL, AUTO” & “SINGLE” in two lines, & “FIRE” & “SAFE” by the control levers. Excellent near mint condition showing only very minor handling wear and a couple minor dings in the wood. There are a lot of stories about Mr. de la Garrigue, but he is most famously known as the inventor of the Grizzly single action army revolver. There is an out of print book about Mr. de la Garrigue called “Artistry in Single Action” by Halton Henderson. Only 450 copies were printed, so they are very rare, expensive, and difficult to find. The book documents these miniature Thompsons as well as several other miniatures made by Mr. de la Garrigue. From a very old collection that has been dormant for well over 25 years & well cared for. Near mint condition showing only minor signs of handling, I’d call it 97%, but the pin retaining the front sight is missing, an easy fix. Stock # BK-21. Price Reduced: $1,350.00. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
