Project Description

This is a 1/3 scale Colt 1911 semi-automatic cut-a-way pistol with original case made by master miniature maker David Kucer of Montreal, Canada.  This beautiful cut-a-way has multiple areas machined aways to show all the internal workings of the pistol, duplicating  Colt factory demonstrator pistols of the period which requires much more skill and knowledge of the pistols internal workings than just making the pistol itself.    Even with all the extra machining to show the internal workings, the piece is still 100% mechanical functional.  The slide locks back on an empty magazine, the thumb & grip safeties are functional, & the hammer drops when the trigger is pulled.  Just an amazing piece!  2 7/8″ long overall with a 1 3/16″ rifled barrel of about .15 caliber.  Steel construction finished in the white.  Standard staked Colt front sight with a dovetailed “U” notch rear sight.  The rear of the slide serrated on both sides.  Checkered hammer spur, slide release, magazine release, Mainspring bushing, and thumb safety.  The left side of the slide marked “PATENTED APR 20 1897 SEPT 9 1902  COLTS PT. F.A.CO., DEC. (CUT A WAY) FEB 14 191 (CUT A WAY) UG 19 1913  HARTFORD, CT. (CUT A WAY) .A” in two lines, and the rampant Colt horse at the rear of the slide (partially cut a way).  The right side of the slide unmarked.  The right side of the frame marked “GOVE (CUT A WAY) MENT MO CUT A WAY) KUCER 1” in two lines.  Straight mainspring housing without the lanyard loop on the bottom.  Double diamond checkered walnut grips with two screws on each side.  Steel magazine finished in the white.  The lift top case is made of walnut with magnetic latched.  The case interior is French fit and lined in a burgundy felt.  The bottom right front corner of the case top inlaid with the typical oval Kucer coat of arms German silver escutcheon.  The interior lid padded & lined in a white silk with the Kucer coat of arms in black in the center.  A beautiful piece in near mint new condition showing just very minor signs of handling.  This is serial # 1, & may be the only one he ever made as I know of no others.  Stock # WD-1271.  Price:  $8,500.00.
