Project Description

This is a 1/4 scale flintlock Kentucky rifle made by master miniature maker Daniel Osterman.  17 7/8″ long overall with a 13″ browned octagon rifled barrel of .136 caliber.  A truly elegant rifle by a master!  Brass & German silver furniture, some of which is nicely engraved.  I’ll let the photos tell the story on that!  Blued lock assembly with the frizzen spring finished in the white.  Dovetailed blued steel front & rear sights.  Beautiful masterfully executed incised carving on the buttstock with raised cheekpiece on the left side.  One piece fiddle back maple stock with a beautiful grain.  There’s a lot going on with this rifle & a whole lot going for it!  Although I have seen some of Daniel’s miniature Kentucky rifles in collections, this is the first one I have ever been delighted to offer for sale!  Seriously, in my experience, miniature flintlock Kentucky rifles just don’t come any better than this!!!  Complete with the original Osterman hinged top walnut case with two swivel hook latches.  The case interior French fit & lined in a blue velour.  The case interior bottom right with what I believe to be Daniel’s calling card which reads “Daniel E. Osterman, Make, of, Muzzle Loading Rifles and Pistols, in Miniature” in script in six lines on white paper with black ink, which I am sure is his original hand writing.  Stock # CK-202.  Price: $6,000.00.
