Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/3 scale Bowie knife by master miniature maker Daniel Osterman of Junction City, Oregon.  5 3/8″ long with a 3 5/8″ drop point blade.  German silver fittings, crossguard, pommel, and rivets.  One piece  carved bone handle.  One piece German silver scabbard.  The top spine of the knife marked with the typical Osterman marking of “DEO+”.  Both the blade and the scabbard have the coveted “Spanish Notch”.  Complete with the original Osterman hinged top walnut casing with push button latch.  The casing with hand made silver hinges and an oval German silver escutcheon inlaid into the top.  The case interior French fit with a purple serrated cloth border detail, and lined in a dark purple felt.  The original knife is featured on page 150 of The Antique Bowie Knife Book by Adams, Voyles, & Moss, and described as follows:  “There are few sheaths that have the Spanish notch, but this is one of the rare ones that does, as does the blade in a classic styling, right down to the bone handle with fancy carving and studded decoration.  The knife is 16 7/8 inches overall and has a 10 1/2 inch blade.  The pommel, ferrule, and guard are all German silver.  The knife is unmarked; the numbers shown are the reference numbers of Robert Ables, Bowie collector of many years ago.  Bob Berryman collection”.   Ex Mal Mele and Kennith Whichard collections.  This exact Bowie knife featured on page 294 – 295 of the book “The Art of Miniature Firearms – Centuries of Craftsmanship”.  Stock # KW-36.  Price: $1,500.00.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
