Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale Colt # 3 derringer by master miniature maker Daniel Osterman of Oregon. 2 7/16″ long overall with a 1 3/16″ rifled barrel of about .185 caliber. The frame is cast German silver that has been polished to look like nickel plating. The barrel is also German silver & has a charcoal blue finish. Yellow brass blade type front sight. The other parts are steel & finished in the white, except for the pivot & grip screws which are fire blued. Checkered hammer spur, the hammer with both half & full cock. Dark walnut, or possibly rosewood two piece grips with yellow brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side. The bottom of the barrel stamped with the number 30, only visible when the barrel is swiveled to load. Complete with the original Osterman manila colored lift top cardboard box with black print . The interior bottom lined in a gray felt. One bottom corner of the box written in ink “30”. There is considerable blue loss on the barrel, The blue mostly having faded to silver gray patina except for some bright blue on the bottom. This is typical of these Osterman Colt # 3 derringers as the blue he used is very fragile. The nickel silver shows some tarnish. Daniel made far fewer of the Colt # 3’s than he did the # 1’s & # 2’s, and they seldom show up for sale. Only the first 50 were serial numbered. Stock# BK-33. !!!!!SOLD!!!!! For EN in Spain.
