This is a pair of 1/2 scale Remington Vest Pocket derringers made by master miniature maker Daniel Osterman of Oregon. 2 1/16″ long overall with a 1 5/8″ rifled round barrels of about .110 caliber. The frames are nicely scroll engraved with 100% coverage. Nickel plated finish except for the trigger & hammer which are blued with their sides polished & in the white. Checkered hammer spur, the hammers with full cock only. Yellow brass bead front sight. Two piece ivory grips with yellow brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side. The bottom of the butt hand engraved with Dan’s maker’s mark “DEO+”. Thee bottoms of the barrels stamped with the numbers 3 & 4 respectively. Daniel only numbered the first 50 of these. Includes the original Osterman manila cardboard lift top box with routed French fit walnut insert. The box top interior with the buff colored with black ink Osterman label which reads “VEST POCKET PISTOL, USING METALLIC CARTRIDGE SIZE NO .22, MANUFACTURED BY, DANIEL E. OSTERMAN, In loading this Pistol care should be taken not to, press upon the Trigger while inserting the Cartridge.” in six lines. This is the first one of these I’ve had in a long while.
