Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 1/2 scale Remington Model 1895 over/under .41 caliber rimfire derringer by master miniature maker Carmen Gianforte of Tennessee.  This is a project I’ve been working on for several years.  The derringer has been very elaborately gold wire inlaid and extensively engraved by master engraver Roger Sampson of Minnesota.  Roger is my “go to” engraver for miniatures, and this is the 150th miniature he has engraved.  I gave Roger carte blanc to decorate this piece and told him I wanted it to be a real showpiece.  Roger signed the piece “R. SAMPSON, 150″ on the bottom of the lower barrel, hidden by the frame, and only visible when the barrels are hinged open.  The quality of the gold inlays and engraving is just superb, my photos in no way do this piece justice!!!  The checkered two piece ivory grips were made by Dennis Holland of Texas, and have brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side.  I sent the finished parts received from Turnbull’s back to Carmen for final assembly to make sure everything is perfect.  Carmen said it is the most beautiful miniature derringer he has ever seen!  2 1/2″ long overall with 1 1/2” barrels of .197 caliber.  All machined steel construction, the frame and barrels machined from rough castings.  Fully functional including the articulated firing pin.  Doug Turnbull in New York did the final polish, and blued finishes.   The frame & barrel are a beautiful deep charcoal blue, and the small parts & screws are a beautiful bright nitre blue.  Includes the original checkered black hard rubber grips with brass escutcheons and a nitre blued screw.  Also includes the original Gianforte green lift top cardboard box.  The box top interior with a Remington label, and one side of the outer box top with a Remington label.  The top 28 photos show the derringer in it’s finished state.  The lower photos show the derringer in the white just as I received it back from Roger.  Sure to be the centerpiece of any miniature derringer or handgun collection.  I have five years and over $5K invested in this piece, and will not have a problem keeping it for my personal collection if it doesn’t sell.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
