Project Description
!!!!!LOST OR STOLEN BY THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE!!!!! This is a 1/3 scale Benjamin Franklin single shot air pistol made by master miniature maker Bob Urso in Washington State. 3 1/2″ long overall with a 2 9/16″ round smoothbore barrel. The barrel, air chamber, receiver, & bolt are nickel plated. The bolt knob is serrated on it’s outer edges. The one piece grip frame & triggerguard, trigger, & pump knob are blued steel. Two piece wood grips with a single retaining screw on each side. The front sight is integral with the front band that holds the barrel to the air chamber, there is no rear sight. The action works. Twist the rear bolt knob to release the bolt, pull it back to cock, push it back forward, then pull the trigger & it will “click”. The left rear side of the air chamber is marked “BENJAMIN FRANKLIN”. The quotation marks in this case are actually marked on the pistol. The cap at the air chamber rear is marked on the perimeter “BENJAMIN AIR RIFLE CO ST LOUIS USA”, surrounding the number “100”, which I assume is the model number. The bottom of the grip is stamped “URSO 1”, so I again assume that this is the first one Bob Urso made. The pistol will not actually shoot. Bob could never get the air chamber to seal & hold pressure on these. It is still a great looking & mechanically functional miniature! The steel grip frame & triggerguard show some wear to the sharp edges, probably because they are cold blued, which is not as durable as hot blue, otherwise, it is in near mint condition. Bob made very few of these air pistols because he could not get them to shoot, and few collectors of his miniatures even know they exist. A rare opportunity to own serial # 1 of a very low production Bob Urso miniature! Stock # EC-21 !!!!!LOST OR STOLEN BY THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE!!!!!
