Project Description

This is a 1/3 scale flintlock Kentucky rifle by master miniature maker Art Holly.  19″ long overall with a 13 1/8″ part octagon part round rifled barrel of .22 caliber.  The barrel is browned, and bored through to the touch hole.  The lockplate, hammer, pan, & frizzen are steel finished in the white, as are some of the screws.  The lock lightly engraved and marked in script capitol letters “AH”.  The hammer with both half and full cock, with a very crisp action.  Nice high quality engraved silver & brass furniture.  Engraved manually opened brass patch box.  The top of the barrel signed “A. Holly” in script.  Several nicely engraved  silver & brass inlays into the stock on both sides of the forearm just ahead of the lock and on both sides of the buttstock.  Brass nose cap.  The browned steel rear sight is dovetailed in place, fixed brass front sight.  There are three silver bands inlaid into the top flat rear of the barrel near the tang, & four near the muzzle.  The stock is a beautiful highly figured fiddleback maple with moderate carving of excellent quality, and a raised cheekpiece on the left side.  There is an oval silver inlay in the cheekpiece with a depiction of a spread winged eagle.  Three brass ramrod thimbles. Hickory ramrod with brass tip.  It look like it has a set trigger, but it’s just for looks & does not work.  A pretty rifle with great lines by a great highly collected maker.  Art Holly miniature rifles are very seldom offered for sale.  Excellent condition except for some expected tarnishing of the brass.  Stock # CK-133.  Price:  $3,250.00.
