Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/3 scale flintlock Kentucky rifle by master miniature maker Art Holly. 21 5/8″ long overall with a 15 3/8″ octagon rifled barrel of .22 caliber. The barrel is browned, and bored through to the touch hole. The lockplate assembly is also browned. The lock lightly engraved and marked in script capitol letters “AH”. The hammer with both half and full cock, & works fine when removed from the stock, but when in the stock & cocked, the trigger does not release the hammer. This rifle has a double set trigger, & it needs a little tweaking by someone better than me! Nice high quality engraved silver & brass furniture. Engraved manually opened brass patch box. The top of the barrel signed “A. Holly”. Several nicely engraved silver & brass inlays into the stock on both sides of the forearm just ahead of the lock and on both sides of the buttstock. Brass nose cap. Both the browned steel rear & brass front sights are dovetailed in place. There are four silver bands inlaid into the top flat rear of the barrel near the tang, & four more near the muzzle. There is a gold band centered between the silver bands at the breech. The stock is a beautiful highly figured fiddleback maple with moderate carving of excellent quality, and a raised cheekpiece on the left side. There is an oval silver & brass inlay in the cheekpiece with a depiction of a spread winged eagle. Three brass ramrod thimbles. Hickory ramrod with brass tip. A pretty rifle with great lines by a great highly collected maker. Art Holly miniature rifles are very seldom offered for sale. Excellent condition except for some expected tarnishing of the brass & the above mentioned trigger issue. Priced accordingly. Stock # CK-130. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
