Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is an antique late 18th century to early 19th century (1790’s to early 1800’s) northern Iran or southern Caucasus miquelet flintlock blunderbuss carbine by an unknown maker. 16 3/16″ long overall with a 9 1/16″ Damascus barrel that measures 1.250″ at the muzzle. This thing is really ornate with carved silver bands at the muzzle and in front of the lock, high relief sculpted Damascus barrel with gold inlays, gold Damascened lockwork. The stock has hundreds, maybe thousands of inlays from round brass pins to intricately carved pieces of mother of pearl & bone, and silver wire circles inlaid with triangles of wood & bone. There are some cracked pearl inlays on the left side of the stock, along with a couple places where the inlays are missing. I have found and repaired the problem with the lock, it was only a bent trigger. A similar, but much less ornate piece, sold in the November 14, 2006 Bonham’s Auction for $7,020.00! See it here. Stock # RN-8. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
