Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is an antique percussion watch key pistol by an unknown maker circa mid 1800’s.  1 7/8″ long overall with a 3/4″ square bore barrel.  Blue finish with beautiful gold wire scroll inlays, and one piece carved  ivory grip.  Excellent condition showing about 90 – 95% of the original blue, with some small areas of very minor etching, and some rust on the nipple.  The hammer has both half and full cock.  The trigger with a loop at the base where the pistol would be affixed to a pocket watch chain.  I have had several of these watch key pistols over the years, but this is by far the finest I have ever seen, both in ornateness and condition.  I will include one original period  percussion cap.  These were used as a key to wind the old key wind pocket watches that were used before the stem wind watches were invented.  Although these are very small in size, they make an incredible amount of noise!  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
