Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is an antique miniature percussion screw off barrel drop trigger muff pistol probably made in Belgium in the 1850’s – 1870’s.  1 11/16″ long overall with a 17/32″ long barrel of .106 caliber.  The frame is beautifully & expertly engraved in floral motifs.  The barrel is engraved with parallel lines bordered with lines in a wave pattern.  The barrel has a distinct flare at the muzzle.  The one piece ivory grip shows a nice mellow aged patina.  The pistol looks to have been finished in silver plate except for the hammer, trigger, nipple, and hanging ring which are case hardened with a straw colored finish.  Included is the combination tool which is a bullet mold, sprue cutter, barrel wrench, & nipple wrench.  This set features a very rare brass lift top cap tin with knurling at the top & bottom.  The lid is embossed with “GEVELOT (diamond figure) FQUI” surrounding a capitol “G”, and still contains seven of the original 1mm percussion caps.  The black leather hinged top case with purple felt lining does not appear to be original, but is old, and may be contemporary to the pistol.  The case lining probably replaced at some point.  The pistol is in excellent mechanical condition and works properly.  The silver plated finish is mostly there with some tarnish on the barrel.  The straw colored parts showing 95%+ of their original finish.  There is a small hairline crack in the ivory grip starting at the lower tang screw extending downward for about 1/4 inch.  The tool is as near perfect as you could hope to find.  The cap tin shows some expected age tarnishing and some sticker glue residue on the bottom.  Rarely do you find these pistols with the tool and cap tin!  Stock # HR-1.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
