!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is an antique miniature breech loading ship’s cannon by an unknown maker This shoots a 10 gauge black powder blank cartridge. 14 1/4″ long overall. The barrel group, including the firing mechanism is about 13 5/16″ long. The barrel assembly comes apart by way of an interrupted screw breech for loading. To cock the firing pin, the spring loaded firing pin is pulled back past the rod that is in the hole in the disc at the rear, then twisted so the disc is resting on the end of the rod. There is a lever affixed to the disc that you would tie a string to, and when the string is pulled, the disc rotates so the disc slips off the rod releasing the firing pin. The barrel is steel and painted black. The barrel is mounted to the carriage by way of brass trunions affixed to a brass band circling the cannon. The barrel will swivel within this band. The carriage and wheels look to be mahogany. The wheels have very thick brass tires. The brass trunion caps are held in place with 4 brass round head screws. There is a brass tie down on each side of the carriage. The axles are steel, and are held to the carriage with brass flat head counter sunk screws. There is an old glue repair to the carriage at the top “step” on the left side. There is a chip of wood missing from the top rear of the carriage that looks to have been caused by the firing pin. A really cool & unusual miniature cannon that you can go out & shoot on the Forth of July or New Years Eve! !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
