Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is an antique single shot center hammer percussion muff pistol made by Alfred M. Lins of Philadelphia circa. 1850. 2 7/8″ long overall with a 1″ tapered octagon barrel of about .183 caliber. The frame, hammer, and trigger look to be silver, or very heavily silver plated. One piece solid yellow brass grip. When cocking the hammer, it has three clicks, and it will fire from all three hammer positions. Smooth hammer spur. The trigger with an integral loop for attaching the pistol to a watch chain or necklace. The top of the barrel hand engraved “ALFRED M LINS, PHILADA” in one line. The middle initial “M” is smaller, raised, and underlined. The frame showing a small dimple on the right side just above the trigger, and another just below the nipple on the left side, which leads me to believe the frame is solid silver. The silver, or silver plate, showing some typical age patina. Mechanically excellent. The frame & barrel with some dings & bumps, the grip excellent and showing a nice mellow aged patina. It is unusual to find one of these muff pistols made and so marked by an American maker. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
