Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is an antique 1/4 scale French percussion musket by an unknown maker. 11 7/8″ long overall with an 8 1/16″ round smoothbore barrel of .221 caliber. The barrel is bored through to the nipple. All metal parts are steel and look to have been finished in the white except the ramrod tip which is yellow brass. One piece walnut stock.  The steel metal parts have aged to a nice smooth gray/brown patina. The stock shows a repair at the wrist and handling marks commensurate with it’s age. When I receive this piece, the hammer was cocked and would not fall when the trigger was pulled. I took it apart and found that the small lever on the sear that extends to the trigger, which the trigger raises to trip the sear, is broken off, so a new sear will need to be made for the action to function properly. The complicated part of the sear is still there to use as a pattern. A relatively easy fix for a competent gunsmith. I sold this piece in November of 2015.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
