!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/5 scale Colt 1911 A1 in sterling silver by master jeweler Alex Baez of California. 1 3/4″ long overall with a 3/4″ barrel of about .068 caliber. All the parts are sterling silver that has been oxidized to look like blued steel, except for the steel springs, pre-ban ivory grips, and yellow brass grip screws. This piece is fully functional and will feed, chamber, extract, and eject the 3 included solid brass dummy cartridges. The left side of the slide marked with an AB intertwined monogram, and “.45 AUTOMATIC # 103. Includes the original Universal Jewelers hinged top clam shell casing. The interior bottom French fit and lined in a cream velvet. The interior top lined in a cream silk. The interior bottom with an engraved brass plaque marked with the AB intertwined logo, UNIVERSAL, and .45 AUTOMATIC”. I believe this is only the third miniature Alex ever made, or at least only the third .45 auto he ever made, and was made before he ever made the connection with Hirsch Kopp. His Jewelry company is Universal Jewelers. I have handled a great number of Alex’s .45 autos over the years, both gold and silver, but I have never seen or heard of one of his miniatures with his logo, or with a case like this one with the identifying plaque. A great early Alex Baez piece and a missing link in the Baez/Kopp miniature firearms history. !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
