Project Description

This is a complete set of same serial numbered U.S. Historical Society & America Remembers “Classic Edition” 47% scale miniature Colt revolvers.  The set includes six pieces including the 1847 Walker, the 1851 Navy, the 1860 Army, the 1861 Navy with shoulder stock, the Single Action Army, and the Single Action Army Buntline.  All are serial number 134.  These are from the estate of the original subcriber, and includes all of the original factory paperwork, Colt factory letters, certificates of authenticity, etc., plus several letters from & to the USHS & America Remembers.  This 1851 Navy did not come with a Colt factory letter as attested by the included paperwork, it did come with a COA.  All are in original mint new condition, with only some minor handling marks to the mahogany cases.  It is rare to find a complete same numbered set.  It is even rarer to find a set with all of the original factory paperwork!  Full descriptions and 9 photos of each are below.  Stock # TD-01.  Price:  $4,250.00.

The 1847 Walker

This is a 47% scale miniature Colt 1847 Walker revolver as issued by the United States Historical Society in the 1980’s.  This is the standard or “Classic Edition”.  These were made by Uberti in Italy under license from Colt for the USHS.  Fully functional, but non-firing. 7 1/4″ long overall with a 4 1/4″ long rifled barrel.  Blue and case colored finish, brass triggerguard, with pretty one piece rosewood grip.  Serial # 134 marked on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, triggerguard, backstrap, and on the side of the cylinder.  The cylinder properly roll engraved with the Ormsby Texas Rangers & Indians cylinder scene.  The right side of the barrel lug marked “US, 1847” In two lines just above the wedge.  The top of the barrel roll stamped with the proper Colt barrel address “ADDRESS SAM (smaller raised L) COLT NEW YORK CITY”. Complete with the original mahogany slide latch hinged top casing with the Colt logo stamped into the top right front corner.  The interior bottom French fit with a gray velour lining.  The interior top padded and lined the the same gray velour.  The interior bottom fitted with the usual USHS brass plaque reading “1947 WALKER COLT MINIATURE, CLASSIC EDITION, COLT FIREARMS, UNITED STATES HISTORICAL SOCIETY” in four lines.  The bottom of the case lined in a brown felt with the usual USHS gold sticker.

The 1851 Navy

This is a 47% Colt 1851 Navy revolver as issued by the United States Historical Society back in the 1980’s. This miniature is the “Classic Edition” and was made by Uberti under license from Colt for the USHS. Fully functional, but non-firing. 6 1/4″ long overall with a 3 1/2″ octagon rifled barrel of .17 caliber. The frame, hammer, rammer, and loading lever are case colored. The balance of the steel parts are charcoal blue. The brass triggerguard, backstrap, and bead front sight are just starting to show a touch of age patina. The top of the barrel roll stamped with the Colt barrel address. The front left of the frame marked COLT’S PATENT in two lines. 36 CAL marked at the left rear of the triggerguard. The cylinder roll stamped with the Ormsby naval battle scene. Serial number “134” stamped into the barrel lug, frame, triggerguard, backstrap, and cylinder. Complete with the original USHS mahogany casing with Colt stamped into the front right corner of the top. French fit with light blue velour lining.  The interior bottom with an inscribed rectangular brass plaque reading ” 1851 NAVY COLT MINIATURE, CLASSIC EDITION, COLT FIREARMS, UNITED STATES HISTORICAL SOCIETY”.

The 1860 Army

This is a “Classic Edition” United States Historical Society 47% scale miniature Colt 1860 Army revolver. Fully functional, but non-firing.  Charcoal blue and case colored finish with one piece walnut grip. Complete with the original USHS mahogany casing with red velour lining and Colt logo stamped into the right front corner of the lid.  Factory roll marked barrel address, .44 Cal marked triggerguard, the front left of the frame marked “COLT’S, PATENT” in two lines.  Roll engraved cylinder with the Ormsby naval scene.  Serial number 134 stamped into the bottom of the barrel lug, the bottom front of the frame, the bottom front of the triggerguard, and the bottom of the backstrap.  The last two digits of the serial number, 34,  is stamped into the side of the cylinder.  The interior of the case has a rectangular brass plaque which reads “1860 ARMY COLT MINIATURE, CLASSIC EDITION, COLT FIREARMS, UNITED STATES HISTORICAL SOCIETY” in four lines.  These miniatures were made by Uberti for the USHS under license from Colt in the mid 80’s. They were a limited edition of 1500. Unlike most the other Uberti miniatures Colt revolvers which were made until about 2008, these miniature 1860 Colt revolvers have not been made in over 30 years.

The 1861 Navy with Shoulder Stock

This is a 47% scale miniature Colt 1861 Navy percussion revolver with detachable shoulder stock originally issued and sold by the United States Historical Society, and authorized by Colt, in the 1980’s. These were made by Uberti in Italy for the U.S. Historical Society, under license from Colt.  This is the  “Classic Edition” which is a standard non-embellished working man’s revolver. 12 1/8″ long overall with the shoulder stock attached.  The revolver is 6″ long overall with a 3 9/16″ rifled barrel.  Checkered loading lever latch and hammer spur.  Fully functional, but non-firing.  Round .17 caliber rifled barrel with a yellow brass blade front sight.  Blue and case colored finish with the exception of the stock yoke and buttplate which are yellow brass.  One line Colt barrel address roll stamped into the top of the barrel.  The left front of the frame stamped COLT”S PATENT in two lines.  The left rear of the triggerguard stamped .36 CAL.  The barrel, frame, cylinder, triggerguard, backstrap, and stock yoke with the serial number 134.  The cylinder roll engraved with the Ormsby naval battle cylinder scene.  Walnut one piece grip and shoulder stock.  Complete with the original USHS mahogany casing with hinged glass top.  The upper right corner of the glass etched with the COLT logo.  The interior French fit and lined in a light blue/gray velour.  The interior fitted with a yellow brass plaque with the USHS information.  A neat piece and the lowest production model of all the United States Historical Society “Classic Edition” miniatures.

The Single Action Army

This is a 47% scale Colt single action army “Classic Edition” revolver Model of 1873 as issued by the United States Historical Society back in the 1980’s.  All of these have serial number “1” stamped into the frame, triggerguard, & backstrap.  This is because this is an exact miniature of Colt SAA serial # 1!  The actual serial number, 134, is stamped into the cylinder pin boss just below the cylinder pin & the loading gate hinge.  6 1/8″ long overall with a 3 7/16″ long rifled barrel.  Fully functional, but non-firing.  Typical of the early Colt SAA’s, this miniature has the “pinched” frame sight topstrap, the round “Bullseye” ejector rod button, and the cylinder pin retained by a screw.  The top of the barrel is roll stamped with the single line Colt “Italics” barrel address “+COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.+” . The left front of the frame roll stamped with the Colt patents “-PAT. JULY 25, 1871-, -PAT. JULY 2, 1872-” in two lines. The left rear of the triggerguard stamped with the “.45 CAL” caliber markings. Checkered hammer spur.  The hammer has the typical COLT four clicks when cocked slowly.  As per the originals, the frame, hammer, and loading gate are color case hardened. The balance of the steel parts are a beautiful high polish black blue. Nickel silver blade type front sight. Very nicely figured walnut one piece grip.  Complete with the original USHS mahogany hinged top casing with slide latch.  The “COLT” logo stamped into the right front corner of the top. The interior bottom French fit with a dark forest green velour lining and includes the typical USHS “Classic Edition” brass plaque which reads “No. 1 SINGLE ACTION ARMY, CLASSIC EDITION, COLT FIREARMS, UNITED STATES HISTORICAL SOCIETY” in four lines.  The interior top padded and lined with the same dark forest green velour.  The case bottom lined in a brown felt.  These revolvers were made by Uberti in Italy, for the U.S. Historical Society, under license from Colt.

 

The Single Action Army 12″ Buntline

This is a 47% scale Colt 12″ barreled “Buntline Special” revolver as issued by America Remembers, the successors to the United States Historical Society.  Fully functional, but non-firing.  These were made by Uberti in Italy under license from Colt.  This is the “Classic Edition”, which is a standard unadorned revolver. 8 1/4″ long overall with a 5 5/8″ long rifled barrel of .21 caliber.  Blue finish with the exception of the frame, loading gate, & hammer which are case colored. The top of the barrel is roll stamped with the one line Colt italics barrel address.  The left front of the frame marked with the patent dates in two lines.  The caliber marking “.45 CAL” stamped into the left side of the triggerguard.  Nicely figured one piece rosewood grips.  The serial number, 134,  stamped into the bottom of the frame, triggerguard, backstrap, and the loading gate hinge.  The top of the frame has the long range stand up adjustable sight.  Checkered hammer spur.  Black powder frame  with the round “Bullseye” ejector rod button.  Complete with the original America Remembers glass top casing with hinged top.  The Colt logo etched into the glass near the left front corner of the top.  The interior is French fit with a burgundy velour lining.  There is also a brass plaque inset into the case interior just below the revolver with the America Remembers data.  Not many of these were made or sold.  This was the last miniature offering by the U.S. Historical Society/America Remembers.  These did not sell to expectations in either the “Classic Edition” or the “Presidential Edition”,  were discontinued early, and had the lowest production of all the USHS or America Remembers miniature Colt revolvers.
