Project Description

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!  This is a 2/3 scale U.S. M1 carbine made by Clarence Cardella.  I purchased this little carbine from legendary Colt single action army Model 18973 historian & author Mr. John Kopec.  Starting in the 1950’s, Mr. Cardella worked in as a precision machinist in the aerospace industry in southern California, and is said to have taken precision machining to an elevated art form!  This piece shows just such precision work.  24″ long overall with a 12″ round barrel of .194 caliber.  Machined steel construction and formed sheet steel construction with a walnut stock & handguard.  This is the early model with the flip rear sight and no bayonet lug.  The steel parts are finished in blue except for the bolt assembly.  The sheet metal 20 round magazine & follower are just amazing!  The action functions flawlessly as does the bolt hold open and the safety.  The blue shows some wear to the sharp edges and a few minor scratches.  The stocks are excellent.  Mr. Cardella also made a U.S. Krag rifle, a Broomhandle Mauser, a Winchester pump .22, Colt 1911, and other miniatures.  A beautiful one of a kind piece by an amazing machinist!  Includes a hand written letter from Mr. Cardella’s son Steve with information on Mr. Cardella, his early days, career, and the miniatures he made.  !!!!!SOLD!!!!!
