Project Description
!!!!!SOLD!!!!! This is a 1/2 scale Ames U.S. 1860 cavalry officer’s sword made, or at least finished, by IMA in Houston, Texas. The blade & scabbard were made in India. The yellow brass guard & pommel were made by Roberto Hinze in Houston. The handle has a cast plastic body, which was wrapped in black leather by master leathersmith Tad Mizwa, then of Houston. Tad also did the braided brass wire wrapping on the handle. The beautiful etched blade is 16 7/8″″ long overall, not including the full tang. The scabbard is 18 1/8″ long overall, and includes the throat, drag, hangers, & rings, which are yellow brass. The blade and scabbard body are made of carbon steel, & finished in the white. The right side of the blade is etched “Ames Mf Co, Chicopee, Mass” in three lines. Both sides of the blade beautifully etched. The right side with four panels which include pikes, drums, bugles, shields, bells, a spread winged American Eagle, a banner with “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, with lots of scroll and floral motifs. The left side with four panels which include pikes, drums, shields, flags, cannon barrels “US”, and lots of scroll & floral engraving. These were made years ago for & by Imperial Miniature, who made a very few of these finished swords. A really neat piece that goes well with the Uberti miniature percussion Colt revolvers.
