Project Description
This is a 1/2 scale Perazzi MX-8 SCO superposed shotgun made by Perugini & Visini in Italy in 1993.  It is engraved and gold inlaid by Carlo Pazotti, who was an engraver for Perazzi. The lower receiver tang engraved “Pasotti (in script) 1993”. This is one of only 15 of these ever made. The top left receiver wall engraved “1/15”, hidden when the barrels are closed. It’s possible this is the first one made! The bottom of the receiver inlaid in gold “SCO”. The top tang inlaid in gold “BLOCCATO”, and just below that a gold inlaid “S” in a circle. 22 5/8″ long overall with 14″ barrels with a serrated anti-glare rib. Orange Raybar front sight.  This fabulous miniature shotgun features a single selective trigger, selective ejectors, and the removable drop trigger assembly. The left side of the receiver is bank note bellino engraved with landing geese in a wetlands scene, the right side with landing ducks in a wetlands scene, & the bottom with a retriever dog with a dead duck in it’s mouth in a wetlands scene with cattails. The balance of the receiver, forearm metal, trigger guard, receiver top tang, and opening lever beautifully engraved with 95% scroll coverage. Nicely figured French walnut buttstock & forearm with hand checkering at the forearm & buttstock wrist. Black rubber buttpad with a thin black plastic spacer. This is the third one of these I’ve been fortunate enough to offer for sale, the other two were about 6 – 7 years ago. The miniature has a box lock action.  The action is cocked upon opening. When one barrel is fired, the inertia resets the trigger for the second barrel. Included is the original olive green canvas & brown leather luggage type casing with key lock.  The interior French fit and lined in a medium green felt.  Accessories include the tool to remove the buttstock, the case key, & a miniature wood duck call.  A full size Perazzi of this quality will set you back about $35K new, or $15K – $28K used.  A similar full size Perazzi recently sold for $14.75K in a Rock Island Auction, and another was for sale in James Julia’s past auction estimated at  $18K – $28K.  This miniature is a factor of 8 times more difficult to build and engrave than one in full size. An almost identical miniature Perazzi shotgun is featured in the book “The Art of Miniature Firearms – Centuries of Craftsmanship”, on page 58. This has been in the same collection since June of 1999. Near mint condition except for a few small handling marks to the wood. I will let the 93 photos tell the rest of the story. Stock # BH-2541. Price: 10,500.00.
