This is a 1/2 scale Wesson swivel barrel two shot derringer made by master miniaturist Larry Smith of Florida. 2 1/2″ long overall with a 1 1/4″ blue barrel group. Brass frame & front sights, the balance of the metal beautifully polished and fire blued. Two piece ivory grips with yellow brass escutcheons and a single screw entering from the left side. The ivory with a pleasing grain & aged patina. The top of one barrel marked “-L.H. Smith-“, the side of that same barrel marked “FRANK WESSON WORCHESTER MASS. PT. DEC. 15/68”. The serial number “31” stamped into the bottom of the grip strap. The center hole of the barrel group with a hidden spear point dagger that slides forward & locks in place. The small screw at the rear of the dagger must be pressed in to release the dagger to extend or retract. The dagger blade is finished in the white. Complete with the original Larry Smith hinged top mahogany casing with push button latch. The top of the case with an attached unadorned rectangular brass plaque. The case bottom stamped “-L.H.-, SMITH, 31” in three lines. The case interior is English fit and lined in a dark burgundy felt. Includes a yellow brass handled blue cleaning/ejector rod and eight rounds of solid brass dummy cartridges with impressed “H” headstamps. The left rear corner of the case bottom has a lidded compartment containing some round cloth cleaning patches. Beautiful mint condition except for some expected tarnish to the brass.
