LH-Smith-Paterson-set-322-323-1.JPG

This is a very deluxe cased pair of 1/3 scale Colt number 5 "Texas" Paterson percussion revolvers with accessories by master miniature maker Larry H. Smith of Florida.  The serial numbers are 322 and 323, and both are the long barrel versions that Larry made.  If you know anything about Larry Smith Patersons, you know how rare these deluxe ones are, especially as a cased pair with the long barrels!  Each revolver is 4 3/16" long overall with a 2 1/2" octagon barrel of .121 caliber.  The barrels, cylinders, wedges, triggers, and screws are a high polished rust blue.  The frames are silver plated yellow brass.  The hammers are finished in the white.  Beautiful two piece mother of pearl grips with two yellow brass rivets securing them to the grip frame.  The barrel has five inlaid silver bands, one at the muzzle, two at the breech, and one on each step of the underlug.  The cylinder has two inlaid silver bands.  Typical of these Larry Smith Patersons, the triggers do not fold, and the cylinders must be hand indexed.  The hammers have both half and full cock.  Both are chambered for and will fire the 2mm pinfire cartridges.  Complete with the original Larry Smith mahogany hinged top casing with slide latch, and the original accessories.  The accessories include a three legged blue bullet mold with walnut handles that cast a single round lead ball, a walnut handled brass cleaning rod with brass ferrule, a brass non-functional single spout powder flask, and two brass lift top cap tins with green Eley labels, one of which has some minor scuffing.  The powder flask top unscrews and is used to hold the 2mm pinfire ammo.  When the top is removed, there is an exposed rod which is used to remove the spent cartridges.  One of the cap tins is empty, the other has a small quantity of round cloth cleaning patches.  Serial number 322 shows about 95% original blue with some very fine etching mostly on the barrel.  The frame shows about 75% of the original silver plating, overall I'd call it 90+%.  Serial number 323 shows 99+% original blue and about 15% of the original silver plating, I'd call it 90+% also.  The case shows only minor handling wear with a few very light scratches, the bottom stamped with the makers mark and the serial numbers.  The interior is French fit ,and lined in a burgundy velour.  The accessories are near mint.

Larry-Smith-Parrot-Head-1-1.JPG

This is a 1/2 scale Hopkins & Allen "Parrot Head" derringer made by master miniature maker Larry Smith of Florida.  1 13/16" long overall with a 15/16" tip up barrel of .116 caliber.  Fire blue finish except for the trigger which looks to be case hardened.  Beautiful two piece mother of pearl grips with yellow brass escutcheons and the screw entering from the left side.  The serial number "1" stamped into the left rear of the barrel and the left front of the frame.  No other markings.  Complete with the original unmarked Larry Smith hinged top walnut casing with cloth hinge and brass push button latch release.  The interior French fit in a bright red velour.  Accessories include 5 rounds of the original Larry Smith custom made externally primed blank center fire ammunition to fit this piece in the original Larry Smith miniature cartridge box with slide out tray.  As far as I can tell, these rounds are unique to this miniature.  I talked with Larry about this piece, and he told me it is very probably the very first "Parrot Head" he made.
